How to help Ukraine from Syracuse: St. Patrick’s Day, Ukrainian style and other events –

Ukrainian volunteers make 1,200 pyrohy for Syracuse parade
Syracuse, N.Y. — The door barely had time to close at the Ukrainian National Home this week.
Every evening, dozens of volunteers have been making traditional Ukrainian food to sell following the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Saturday. Wednesday, they made 1,200 pyrohy (potato dumplings). Thursday, it was holubsti (cabbage rolls).
On Wednesday, the club also collected supplies to ship to Ukraine. Every week since the war began, boxes of food, medical supplies and diapers get piled to the ceiling before being trucked to New Jersey, then shipped to Poland.
The sales from the St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser and the Lenten fish fry every Friday (including today) help the Ukrainian cultural organization send aid to Ukraine. The St. Patrick’s Day event runs for noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the home. The fish fry starts at 4:30 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m. every Friday of Lent. To pre-oder, go to the home’s website and click the poster of the fish fry. To donate supplies for Ukraine, drop-offs are Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are located at 1317 W Fayette St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Phone number: 315-478-9272.
